Are you aware of Isass.exe? It is a Microsoft file and handles the security policy enforcement in the operating system. This file is responsible for managing user logon, password changes etc. which is a very vital process. If the file is closed or terminated, it results in immediate shutdown or restart of the operating system. This is so because the windows logon information is lost when this file is closed.

The first step should be to check if the computer system is infected with any virus or Trojan that might cause this problem. Some malicious code camouflage themselves as Isass.exe file and show error messages. Another cause of this error could be the corrupt registry entries. Registry key are the values upon which an operating system works. If some malicious code or software install/uninstall process change any of the configuration file or registry entry, then the system may become unstable resulting in such errors.

Whenever you encounter Isass.exe error, start the computer in a safe mode and perform virus and Trojan scan to ensure that malicious code is not the cause of this error. If the result shows that your system is not infected with any virus, then you need to take this as a serious issue.

In some cases, the Isass.exe error can be fixed by overwriting the Isass.exe file from the windows recovery disk but this might not be of much help if the problem is with registry entries. However, you should try this step after performing the successful virus scan.

If the problem still persists, then it is the registry entries of your operating system that has been manipulated or modified resulting in this error. You should prefer using some registry cleaner software to rectify the registry entries instead of trying to manipulating them manually which is a very risky process.
